Judge Kenneth Hixson is now accepting applications for the position of Judicial Administrative Assistant (JAA). Judge Hixson requires applicants to have a Juris Doctor degree or be a law student working towards a Juris Doctor degree. This full-time position has a starting salary of $50,000. JAAs are eligible for most state benefits including state retirement, group-health and term-life programs, cafeteria plan, credit union membership, and deferred-compensation programs.

Duties of a JAA differ among judges but may include assisting the Judge and his Law Clerks with legal research and preparing legal memoranda; transcribing legal dictation; typing, editing, and proofreading legal memoranda and opinions with strict attention to grammar, punctuation, syntax, style, spelling, and legal citation; and other clerical duties. The applicant must possess an excellent knowledge of legal terminology and citation, grammar, sentence structure, spelling, and punctuation. The applicant must be extremely reliable and possess strong organizational, verbal, and computer skills with proficiency in Word and other software as needed. Familiarity with the Contexte Docket Management System and CourtConnect are helpful but not required.
