The Arkansas Court of Appeals is accepting applications for the position of Staff Attorney.
Staff Attorneys work for the entire Court of Appeals and primarily research and prepare legal memoranda on factually complex cases. Staff Attorneys also prepare draft opinions when asked to do so by the Court of Appeals judges. Staff Attorneys support the Court in other ways, including but not limited to, assisting with motions and performing administrative duties connected with the Court’s operation.
Applicants for the position must hold an attorney’s license issued by the State of Arkansas and must have five years’ licensed experience in either the practice of law, a judicial clerkship, or similar work. Applicants must also have excellent research and writing skills. Familiarity with post-conviction criminal law and public-utility law is helpful but not required.
The Staff Attorney position has a starting salary of $97,700, which is negotiable based on experience. Staff Attorneys are eligible for most state benefits including state retirement, group health and term-life insurance programs, cafeteria plan, credit-union membership, and deferred-compensation programs.
