Arkansas State Board of Law Examiners

Pursuant to Rule 1 of the Arkansas Supreme Court’s Rules Governing Admission to the Bar, the State Board of Law Examiners consists of eleven members: two from each Congressional District and the remaining members selected at large. Members are appointed for six‑year terms unless otherwise designated by the Court. Vacancies arising from reasons other than expiration of a term are filled by the Supreme Court, and the appointee serves the remainder of the predecessor’s term. Each year, the Board selects its own chair. Members continue serving until their successors are qualified and appointed.

The Board may adopt regulations consistent with the Rules Governing Admission to the Bar. Any proposed regulations must be submitted to the Arkansas Supreme Court for approval, and once approved, appear as an appendix to the Rules.
